Strong .. The leader of Syria's strong leader of Syria for three decades (1970-2000).



Assad was born in the town of Qardaha, near the port city of Latakia
on the Mediterranean. Early and joined the Arab Baath Socialist Party,
which came to power in Syria in 1963, Assad was one of the founders of
the military wing of the party, which played a pivotal role in the
arrival of Al-Assad to power after the coup within the Baath coup,
which ended by Hafez Assad, in 1970, and was Minister of Defense at
the time.
Military life :
He graduated from the drone wars in Homs Military Academy, Air Academy
in Aleppo, and the positions of the air force commander and Minister
of Defense before assuming power.

Assad is far from the army with the start of what was known as an era
of separation, which abolished the state union with Egypt, and was
once again to the service in 1963 after a coup by a group of officers
led by the Baath Party and the Arab Nationalist Movement, led by the
Nasserites and Loai Alonasi Ziad Hariri, and then was promoted to the
rank of Major General and was 34-year-old, was appointed to direct the
next year (1965) commander of the Air Force.
In February 23, 1966 the lion was one of the leaders of the coup that
overthrew the civilian leadership of the National Party and the rule
of Amin Al-Hafiz, the Panel, and in a few days of the coup, Assad
became the minister of defense.
Military coup :
Assad was Defense Minister and Commander of the Air Force when Syria
lost the Golan Heights in the war in June 1967, after the defeat that
changed the harsh accusations and many arrests occurred, and there was
a kind of political instability used in Hafez al-Assad seized power in
a coup in 1970, then became president of the Arab Republic Syria in
1971, and was the first Syrian president in the history
Assad and the 1973 war
Co-coordinated by Hafez al-Assad and Anwar Sadat in the preparations
for war in October 1973, the two countries, both have occupied
territories since the defeat of June 1967, then signed their dispute
after Egypt signed the second agreement for the separation of forces
between Egypt and Israel, Syria set up with Libya and South Yemen and
the PLO Palestinian Front repel after President Sadat signed the Camp
David treaty with Israel in 1979.
Signed an agreement with Iran after the Islamic revolution led by
Ayatollah Khomeini in 1979.
Syria plays a major role in political and public life in Lebanon since
the entry of large forces of the Syrian army to Lebanon in 1976, and
this led to the formation of the strong presence of the Lebanese
position on the negotiations and the peace process is similar to the
position of Syria, and to the activity of military resistance to
Israeli occupation, which led to the withdrawal of Israeli Lebanon
without conditions or agreements.
The Syrian army in 1991 with the international coalition to liberate
Kuwait, and after the war formed the Syria, Egypt and the GCC defense
system called the Damascus Declaration States.
Assad and the Palestinian issue:
President Hafez al-Assad has key roles in the Palestinian issue over
the thirty years he spent as governor of Syria, and contributed to the
industry, especially the important events of 1967 and 1973 war, in
addition to its essential role in Lebanon. The country hosted the many
factions of the Palestinian resistance and opposition, and continued
to hold until his death, the terms negotiated for the establishment of
a high between his country and Israel

Death:
Syrian president, died on Saturday, June 10, 2000 in Damascus
following a sudden heart attack after seventy years. And Matt Assad
